[CFDA Awards 2012: Simplicity It Is!]

They say...CFDA Awards is where fashion fetes its best.  Agree or disagree? Well, you can decide it for yourself :)
Here are the round-up looks of the night ♥ (as usual, red carpet looks always manage to intrigue me with the varieties them bring)

I'll start with my favorites...
Zoe Saldana held me captivated in a stunning Prabal Gurung sheer panel black gown.  They fit each other perfectly in an explicit away.
Salute to Prabal Gurung. He successfully captures the bold and daring essence yet still maintaining the graceful factor.
While the minimalism in the hairdo and accessories, the smokin smokey eyes, and yes the catchy mary-jane..all just fall into the right place.
Definitely my most favorite tonight
Another excitement also comes from (one-of-my-favorite) Asian-origin designers: Alexander Wang; and yet it's another black simplicity that stole my heart.  Wang brings his signature black into the design of a cocktail dress with a croc-leather twist and asymmetrical drapery skirt that creates this distinct edgy androgynous feel. Carine Roitfeld looks tres chic in it!
Wish I were to have that dress in the little closet of mine #boo-hoo
Model ☑ Michael Kors Mono-tone Dress ☑ Gold Accessories ☑ Sexy Up-do ☑
Both Joan Smalls and Erin Heatherton rock their Michael Kors dress to the max with a min effort (or can I say effortless). The minimal styling with a hint gold simply brings out the luxury of the dress.
Here's another stunner at the red carpet that also looks effortlessly gorgeous, Hilary Rhoda in Rebecca Minkoff multi-blue maxi dress.  Simply reminds me of the sea   The legs are her main accessory here I guess.

I can say that the term "less is more" does apply, that simplicity fetes at its best at CFDA Awards 2012

For the best accessories, I'd say Elettra Wiedemann's.  The model accessorizes her Rachel Roy cut-out burgundy dress with Lulu Frost statement necklace that goes just right with her Rachel Roy ‘Farrah’ leather architectural open toe metal tri-colour sandals. An absolute stunning statement she makes!
As for the shoes, I'll go with Nicholas Kirkwood for Prabal Gurung that grace both Zoe Saldana and Jessica Chastain looks that night. Which one is your favorite? I, myself, cant decide.  Both colors look fantastic!

Here are other fashion darlings that also deliver quite a catch in the eyes
Dree Hemingway and Tabitha Simmons laidback style is surprisingly acceptable and also favorable.  As a reminder that red carpet is not always all bout glam, what's with a little casual style.  In love with both Tabitha Simmons' boots and Proenza Schouler peacock jacket Edginess alert! *Congrats Tabitha for winning Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in Accessory Design*
 The Metallics
Shu Pei in Vera Wang - Lily Collins in Marchesa - Arizona Muse in DVF
.
Lily Collins is the winner in this category, she looks sweetly amazing H2T, while Shu Pei and Muse shoes fail to make an impression.
The Patternists
Liu Wen in SunoDakota Fanning in Proenza Schouler - Crystal Renn in Zac Posen - Karolina Kurkova in Tommy Hilfiger - Kate Bosworth in Altuzzara
A pattern party is happening on the CFDA 2012 red carpet, with Bosworth and Renn nailing the look just right. As for the others: Liu Wen with the boots, Dakota with the gammy's hair, and Karolina with too-much orange, they just seem kinda off-the-beat.
Last but not least, The main heroines of the night, The Olsen twins, both in The Row.
Congrats girls for winning Womenswear of the Year Award (for The Row)
MK debuting her new brunette hair..a yay or nay?

Which looks do you like best?

[A Story of A Fresh Graduate]

I MADE IT!!!
WE MADE IT!!!

Finally, the long awaited day had come..May 26 2012, the day of my commencement

Here is a little trivia of my "education background":
I studied Accounting in Pelita Harapan University, batch 2008.  Struggled for 3.5 years yet enjoying every moment of it, and was finally declared "passed" for final thesis defense around 4months ago.

And back to the commencement day that I was so excited about! You bet I was!
So relieved when I knew that girls were not required to wear "kebaya", the kind of outfit that most of the graduates in Indonesia wear in commencement ceremony.
But, speaking from experience, that is definitely the outfit you wanna refrain from wearing in a hot and sunny day, especially when you're gonna top it off with another layer of graduation robe.  The brocade fabric is just not heat-friendly.
Although I must admit that most women look utterly ravishing in kebaya, it's the nature of the outfit that lines the body so elegantly.

But oh well, this is what I put on on the D-Day (Hint: Opera Cake)
Lace Panel Dress - Topshop/Buttons Detachable Collar - Pre Order at Accessoria Nerve/Treasure Chest Ring - Topshop/Sepia Pumps - Jimmy Choo
Since this season is all about "pastels", I decided to tone down from my usual neon-self to channel my inner-pastel.
THREE things why I cudnt wait to put on this ensemble altogether are:
1. I'm so in love w/ my Topshop dress, especially with the intricate lace details and the long sleeves and oh yes the princess line seam-line that helps one (me!) looks slimmer

2. I gotta admit that I havent got over detachable collar, instead I bring my fascination to the next level.  This is so far the most lavish d-collar I've ever purchased.  The 1st impression I got on this d-collar was this:
Ashley Olsen's Baroque Mask in Influence
and I was like: MUST HAVE THIS D-COLLAR!!*hysterical*
(by the way, it is available for pre-order in Accessoria Nerve on June )

3. I finally found my "one-pair fits all" pumps.  A combination of black and nude colors, with a little twist of patent leather on the platform...really reminds me of Opera Cake! And, it's my first Jimmy Choo :))

(Special thanks to my lovely sis for picking up these shoes in the mid of her hectic schedule )

I did feel a wee-bit like a Parisienne with all the hat and the braids. Oui oui! :p
Got a friend who is like a master in braiding, and she saved my "o so straight" hair by braiding it into whatchamacallit braid.
Merci beaucoup, Vonny

Okay, I think enough bout my look...
In this opportunity, I'd like to express my solemn gratitude to my family for their endless support and constant encouragement (and the pretty gifts :p).  And to each and everyone of you that has helped me "survived" these past 3.5 years, thank you :))

Thank You

[Nails Diary: Katniss Everdeen's (Girl on Fire) Nails]

“I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun.” -Katniss Everdeen

As promised, this is my version of Katniss' Girl on Fire Nails!

So, here's is the concept: blazing fire. *duh!*
Had this idea of the fire started small on the outer which then blazed (gracefully :p) on the middle, just like Cinna's fire on "PeeNiss" tributes' parade outfits.
Got the fire blazing in three middle fingers (instead of one) to indicate the three-fingers salute thing.
Would've been awesome if Katniss had these manicures on when she did the salute in Rue's death scene :D

This look was brought to you by polishes from China Glaze Capitol Colour Collection.
I used Electrify (District 5), Luxe & Lush (District 1), and Fast Track (District 6) (read the awesome review from ThePolishAholic)
Fast Track, Electrify, Luxe&Lush
Light VS Shade

As a citizen of District 12 (here), I shud've got the Smoke and Ashes also, but I just didnt have enough catch to trade it at the Hob if you know what I mean *boo-ya*
However, I happened to find a way to create the resemblance to Smoke and Ashes (later below, okay? :))

So back to the topic!
First, I apply a coat of Fast Track as the base for Electrify, just to add another gold pigment.  You can skip this part tho', cos electrify is a glitter polish that can hold its own ground (definitely better than OPI's Rainbow Connection). A coat or two of Electrify, and voila you get yourself a full coat of glitter.  And it was damn easy to apply!

Second, stick a piece of clear tape on your nails then draw a blazing fire then cut the fire out (a broad or long nail would be a nice one, otherwise it will need a lot of patience to cut those tiny little fire but the hard-work pays off :D)
Stick the cut fire back to your nail, and swipe  black polish thru half of your nail. I need 2 to 3 coats of black to cover the electrify.  wait until it's completely dry then pull the fire tape off. Yes, this step needs a lot of patience.

Last, for the thumb and pinky, I only painted simple triangle shape fire to indicate "small fire", then add a thin coat of Luxe and Lush from the triangle point upward to give fire flakes feel.
Then top it all off with topcoat, and you're ready to sport your Katniss' Fire nails

Of all my experiences purchasing nail polishes, this is the most excited one. Honestly.
So, good luck girls tryin this look and may the odds be ever in you favor

PS: To achieve the Smoke and Ashes polish look, swipe two coats of black polish as base, then add sufficient amount of silver glitter polish w/ clear base, then add another pretty thin coat of black. There you have it!:D

[Nails Diary: Effie Trinket's (The Reaping) Nails]

Happy 74th Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.

My version of Effie Trinket's nail polish do in The Reaping scene.
This is my favorite of all Effie's Capitol manicure style (...and also because this is the only one I managed to do w/ my amateur skill and limited resources, yet still managed to do it myself..on both hands *teehee*)

This is a very easy manicure to DIY and it looks good on both short or long nails, tho' the gradient effect may look slightly better on longer nails.
You'll only be needing a dark magenta or fuschia polish, gold pigment polish, glitter topcoat, and a make-up sponge.
(P.S.: I use a copper pigment polish instead of gold, cos I dun have any. But still looks kinda same I guess)
OPI La Paz-itively Hot Matte - VoV Classic Song 7263 - Essie Carnival

Thanks to cutepolish for this awesome tutorial, I'm a fan ♥

I'm a big sucker for anything Hunger Games now.  Last couple days, I decided to purchase some of the China Glaze Capitol Colours Collection.  Cant wait to try it on, got this idea of "Katniss Girl on Fire" nails already.

Btw, have you read the Hunger Games trilogy?
I couldnt put them down, that I finished 3 of them in 3 days.  Gosh, I'm hooked ♥
I managed not seeing the movie til I finished the book, which I later regretted.  Reading the book 1st always makes me expecting too much from the movie.
Let's just hope w/ the abundant profit they made from the 1st movie, will make the 2nd and 3rd installments better (and longer) :p

Cudnt help contain the fan girl inside me, got myself this :

And again, may the odds be ever in your (and my) favor ♥

[Channeling: Kristen Stewart at Balenciaga's Fall/Winter 2012 Presentation]

1. TOPSHOP Graffiti Flower Drape Top/2. ZARA Short Blazer/3. FOREVER21 Faux Leather Leggings/4. BUTTER LONDON Come To Bed Red/5. TOPSHOP Mini Triangle Stack Ring/6. TOPSHOP Paragon Zip Front High Sandals

Kristen Stewart went Balenciaga H2T to the Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2012 Presentation on Paris Fashion Week?  One word: J'adore

As the face of this edgy French fashion house new fragrance, KStew totally nailed this uber modern look.  It was not the clothes that wearing her, but vice versa.  Love how this look showed the edgy and fierce side of KStew but did not contain her straightforwardness.
The hair, the attitude, the leather leggings, the peep-toes..très chic!
And yes, especially the leather leggings+the leather peep-toes, which I cant take my eyes off.  Love the one-piece illusion these two items create.
(P.S.: I'd kill to look like KStew in those tight leather leggings! Kill my appetite I mean :p)

I cant help but notice that KStew has graced some events covered in edgy clothing from Balenciaga, seems like both of these parties have shown mutual interest towards each other.  Maybe another Balenciaga advertorial for KStew in the future?
Looking forward to what other fashion excitement KStew may bring with her cool effortless style.
